The Anxiety Isn't the Hardest Part

anxious person walking on boardwalk at night

The anxiety isn’t the hardest part

it’s the hiding it away

the shielding it from prying eyes

beyond the light of day

Out beyond the placid meadows

and fields of eternal peace

The anxiety lies in wait for me

timing its own release

The anxiety isn’t the hardest part

it’s the frantic waiting game

not knowing when the time will come

not knowing if it came

No, it’s not the anxiety that frightens me

nor is it the teeming dread

it’s the disembodied feeling

that’s coming from my head
